The expansion was completed in three phases between 2018 and 2020.

Success for the University of California, Merced's campus expansion is not just defined by timely delivery of new facilities. It is also measured by how well the facilities meet long-term academic, social and health-related needs.

Fall 2018: First Delivery

"First Delivery" included 700 new on-campus student beds, a 600-seat dining facility, classrooms and 940 new parking spaces (161,000 ASF).

  • Housing 1A/3B: Granite Pass residence hall with student life space and classrooms.
  • Housing 1B: Glacier Point residence hall with community space and classrooms.
  • Dining 1D: Multipurpose dining facility with additional private dining rooms.

Fall 2019: Second Delivery

"Second Delivery" included 150,800 assignable square feet of laboratory, academic and research space.

  • Lab 2A: Wet laboratory building with maker space and academic support areas.
  • Lab 2B: Computational laboratory and faculty offices with lecture hall.
  • Research Server 2D: Modular server facility supporting research storage.

Fall 2020: Substantial Completion

Substantial Completion added 478,000 assignable square feet, including laboratories, housing, parking, a conference center, transit hub, wellness center and recreation facilities.
