The first phase of UC Merced's campus expansion was completed in Summer 2018. The phase includes additional student housing, new dining options, additional parking and recreation facilities.  Download the first phase fact sheet here

The second phase of the project includes two new state-of-the-art buildings with labs, classrooms and additional study areas.  The buildings open in Fall 2019 and define the edge of a new quadrangle.  Learn more here

By Fall 2020, the campus expansion will have doubled the physical capacity of UC Merced.  It includes expanded student wellness and counseling facilities, additional student housing,  a dedicated transit hub for buses, a student enrollment center, and a swimming pool.  Learn more here

ABC-30 visited campus to get an update on UC Merced's campus expansion.  Chancellor Leland told them the first buildings open in fall 2018.

Phase 1 of a new campus parking lot opened for campus use on November 27, 2017.  When Phase 2 is complete in Fall 2020, it will have added 1,574 net new parking spaces to the campus, a 60% increase.

The buildings have been 'shrink wrapped' so that construction can continue through the winter rain season.

November 18, 2017: Bellevue Parking Lot Mass Notification Testing The UC Merced Police Department will be testing the campus-wide external public announcement this Saturday, November 18th, 2017 between 9 AM and 10 AM.  This test is to ensure the external public announcement system serving the new campus parking lot south of Bellevue Road is functional and that the system works...

As part of a busy summer of work, the development team has begun form work for the sixth and flinal floor of a new student residential facility in the heart of the Merced 2020 campus expansion.  Known as Housing 1B, the building is scheduled to open in Fall 2018 and will provide additional undergraduate residential housing.

Work is progressing on a second bridge crossing the Fairfield Canal.  The span will connect the campus expansion to the existing campus on the western edge of Science and Engineering 1 and 2. 
August 7, 2017
The new Dining Facility features a recognizable sloped roof.  The 600-seat building opens in Fall 2018.  The construction team has begun assembling the steel components of the buildings distinctive sloped roof.
